Count your lucky stars!

1. Raoul Bova (For Sheena!)

2. Luke Malby

3. Johnny Lee Miller

I was pretty much threatened with physical violence by a certain Miss Titcombe for not posting last week so I am forced to do a Guy Candy two times this week. I swear, what I won't do for my fans!

No Guy Candy

Sorry, I had more pressing matters to attend to this week.

Maybe next week.

McDonald's May Kill You But...

...They let you win stuff too. I have been hoarding all the Monopoly pieces I can get my hands on and I finally won an instant prize. Yes, you can touch me if you'd like, I'm that lucky.
Right.
So anyway, I won free credits from this thing called Snapfish. Or SoapFish. Something to that effect. I assume it's kinda like Flickr. Enjoy but be warned, I haven't really uploaded the pics I wanted - it's just stuff I had on the computer at work and I since I am working overtime I uploaded what I could.

More titles for my autobiography

-I Got Game... But No Tact.

-Is it just me or is the world stupid?

-White People. What's Up With Them?

-Lyndy: The Wonder Years. "Whoa, dude."

-Lyndy: The Petulant Years. "You dudes can go to hell."

-Lyndy: The Proletariat Crushing Years. "Ouch, dude."

-A Lyndy Retrospective: Did She Have To Make So Many People Cry?

-Oh No I Di'int!

This site, she mocks me.

Hmmph. Well, just to prove me wrong and make me look like the ass I am the site and the computer seem to be in cahoots because now everything is going along smoothly and quickly. Why do the internet gods hate me so? Are they not amused?

This computer, she mocks me.

So darn s l o w. Really though, how can a person share her illuminating thoughts with the world with a machine that doesn't oblige? I am trying to be hip and up-to-date on my lingo all the kids use but this computer is so moody that I can't post when I want to post. For shizzle indeed.

NaNoWriMo Paricipant?

As many of you Gnomers will have no doubt noticed, I have a little link that states that I am an official NaNoWriMo participant this year. What the heck is it, you may have asked yourselves? Well, let me tell you, it's an annual contest to celebrate National Novel Writing Month. Starting November 1st participants are required to write a 50,000 word novel in one month and I, for some unknown reason have decided to enter and bore the world with more of my ramblings.

Wish me luck.

Gobble! Gobble! Gobble!

Yes dear friends, it's that time of year again when Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving. I hope you all had a nice day off and enjoyed a scrumptious turkey dinner as I did. I have to say, I think Thanksgiving is the biggest holiday in the Fitzpatrick calendar, it's really the only time we all get together all year. As per usual my mother hosted the annual event and our table was once again set for 30+ people, excluding children. It's not that we're not child-friendly, because we are, but they're all still under ten and enjoy playing and watching Harry Potter DVDs. (Provided by yours truly!) I have noticed that as they get older it's a lot less stress around dinner time because they pretty much entertain themselves now and don't need constant supervision.
I'd like to take this opportunity to share with you all that I am thankful for this year:
-Family
-Friends
-The person who invented gravy
-The ability to type
-The friendly gnomers who read my little blog

Possible titles for my autobiography.

After I have conquered the world I would like to write a book about my life from sweet-faced child to tyrant and as I was sitting at reception I came up with a couple of ideas.

-Misanthrope

-I Hate You

-Go To Hell

-Lyndy: I Hardly Knew Me

-I'm With You But I Always Wished You Were Someone Else

*There are more to come.

Weekly Guy Candy Survey

Ok, the whole configuration thing went horribly wrong and this computer is so damn slow that I can't fix the pictures so that they're in any discernible order therefore I am forced to tell you that blonde guy is Jensen Ackles and he's Number 1. Number 2 guy is Tom Welling and he has the black hair. We finish up with Frédéric Michalak for Number 3. (He's the shirtless one.)

What I don't like.

You know what I don't like? Things.

And by things I mean people.

Scott!!!

Call me. Call me. Call me. Call me. Call me. Call me. Call me.
(I am sending you telepathic messages. You needs to call because we are going out Friday and I would like you to come.)
I still don't know where we are going but it might be fun so hang out with us, why don't you?

Le life, c'est le suckage complete.

I thought I would dazzle all of you with my expert frenglish skills. Voilà !
Anyhoo, something occurred to me this weekend as I was licking my wounds, an epiphany of sorts. Let me tell you Lemony Snickets had it right when he said life is basically a series of unfortunate events. Here are my wise words:
-Life is nothing but a series of small disappointments which are occasionally interrupted by large catastrophic ones.
It may sound like the voice of despair and in case you need clarification, it is.

I've paid my dues!

You know what? I resent having to be at reception when I have put my time in here and shouldn't have to deal with this crap. I hate people. I hate them all. I especially hate sick people who leave early and make me replace at PVM. Stupid sickos.

(Breathe in, breathe out... Serenity now.)

I think I need to kick someone in the neck because that's, you know, good times.

Serenity Guy Candy

1. Nathan Fillion (Capt. Mal Reynolds)

2. Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb)

3. Sean Maher (Dr. Simon Tam)

In celebration of the opening of Serenity at the theatre near you I have decided to have a Firefly-themed survey this week. Not all are my cup 'o tea but hey, everyone has different tastes, so let's just go with the flow, shall we?

Yawn

I think I am going to leave early this afternoon to have dinner with my parents and Michael at the Old Orchard Pub. See ya suckers!

My Name is Earl

As I earlier predicted, I thoroughly enjoyed the show My Name Is Earl starring Jason Lee. I think he's an engaging and funny actor and I don't think I have ever seen him in something I didn't like. For those of you who didn't catch it last (Tuesday) night it's basically a story about a small town loser named Earl who wins the lottery and decides after watching Carson Daly talk about karma to right all the wrongs he's done in the past with this winnings. I highly recommend it to anyone who has nothing to do on Tuesday nights as it's good clean fun.

Toosday

Man, do you ever get into work and decide that you weren't going to work? I mean, literally, do nothing constructive for the entire day? This is what I have decided to do and I am only going to surf the web, update my blog, and pass the work onto those who can't refuse to work. It's a tough stance to take but I am going to have to stick to my guns. Who says I have no drive and willpower?

Anyhoo, did anyone happen to catch "Kitchen Confidential" last night on Fox? I liked it as it brought the funny AND it brought the pretty. Helllo Bradley Cooper. If anyone saw it and wants to discuss they can leave a comment. A word verified comment.

When in Rome...

...Do as the Romans do and get nekkid?

Honestly, I don't want to objectify JP but, meeeoooowww.

Thank you HBO.

Why I Hate Scott

Dude, you need to post a new comment or something. You can't just leave me here in the infinite space of the internet all by my lonesome. Why the hell would you set up a blog if you never update OR write to me on my blog.

You can go to hell.

Word Verification

It seems as though Spammers have gotten into the blogging business so I have decided to put up a word verification thingy to block them and make sure only real Gnomers can post a comment on the site. Hope it doesn't cause too much of an inconvenience for y'all.

My love for Frank Gehry

I don't know if many of you know this but in addition to Guy Candy, Rugby, and nonconsequential things I am passionate about architecture. More specifically, I am a huge fan of the architect Frank Gehry so I decided to add a couple of pictures of his buildings because, well, I can.

Isn't Sunday supposed to be a day of rest?

Apparently not as I am currently at work on Sunday afteroon at 14:03 waiting for someone to bring me documents to copy in colour. I have been here since about noon and have had nothing to do so I am getting a little bored in here all alone. On the upside I have been listening to Dain Bramage and rockin' out. Or something to that effect. Anyhoo, right now Audioslave is playing and that's nice. Sometimes you just gotta let go and bang your head, you know what I mean? Maybe you don't and I am just talking jibberish, it's highly likely. All I know is that I am tired after spending Saturday in the country with my family for my dear old dad's sixtieth birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HERBIE!!! It was raining most of the day so we stayed inside watched Harry Pottah 3 and played a game which I cannot remember the name of right now but once I do rest assured that I will share it with you all. I won nine dollars as there was gambling involved and I generally don't condone taking money from children but it is on occasion required to cement your place in the family heirarchy. IN YOUR FACE SMARTASS KIDS!!!

Hmm, James Taylor's Handy Man is now playing on Dain Bramage so not rockin' out anymore. Or am I? No, definately not.

Do you ever feel like you are sleeping with your eyes wide open? I feel like that now as I am typing words and **somewhat** coherent sentences but I am on auto-pilot. I just wanna sleep, man. Why does Michael know my home number? Oh yeah, that's right, he got it from my mom. Damn her.

Bad Day

God, why do Fridays always suck so bad? I am tired and trying to be as nice and diplomatic as I can be but...STOP LOOKING AT ME!!!
Sorry, feeling just a little bit edgy.

I hate people but most of all I hate you.

He Brings the Pretty

Right, so I've never pretended that I wasn't shallow but I think I've hit an all-time low in this post. I have recently found a new TV-Land crush and I thought I would share him with you Gnomers. His name is Wentworth Miller and many of you wll already be aquainted with him thanks to a previous Guy Candy Survey. I really couldn't help myself when I saw these pics... I just had to share.
P.S. TWoP has an entire forum thread devoted to him, check it out as some of the posts are quite amusing.
Anyhoo, he's a Princeton grad and he is of African-American, Jamaican, English, German, French, Dutch, Syrian and Lebanese descents. Exotic, yes?

The Bane of my Existence

Everett, whom I have mentioned a couple of times in earlier posts is my arch-enemy. He's twenty and very mean to me. All he does is tease me and mess up my hair. I swear, it's like I am back in elementary school when we're in here together.

That is all. I just had to rant a little bit.

More buck for your dollar

In my neverending quest to entertain and inform you soul-suckers I have compiled a new list. This comprises of people who are on my blacklist:

-The secretary at work who thinks she's all that and a bag of peanuts.

-The cashiers at the IGA or Provigo on Cavendish.

-That lady who hogged the pole on the 420.

-That creepy biker dude who hit on a girl at work all summer even though we told him she was 16.

-The same creepy biker dude that I just found out has been dating an old friend for the past three months. (Yes, that's including the summer). Classy.

-That old friend that I thought had higher standards. Really though, what is she thinking?

You can't take the sky away from me

While I was re-reading some of my earlier posts it occured to me that some of you may not be too familiar with Serenity/Firefly (For shame!) so I decided to put together a little Welcome package.
Here's the 411: Serenity is a movie based on a little show called Firefly that lasted less than one season on Fox. While it may seem that the quality of the show explains its short TV life let me assure you it is not the case as the reason it crashed in burned in TV land was because Fox never really gave it a chance. Despite being cancelled before the Christmas hiatus the show's loyal fans never gave up on it and forumed the hell out of it and supported it tremedously when it came out on DVD. Needless to say, it became a huge seller and finally found its mass audience. Universal Studios took notice of this little gem of a show and gave the go-ahead to film a full-length movie.

[Opening narration; first lines spoken in series]
Book: After the Earth was used up, we found a new solar system and hundreds of new Earths were terra formed and colonized. The central planets formed the Alliance and decided all the planets had to join under their rule. There was some disagreement on that point. After the War, many of the Independents who had fought and lost drifted to the edges of the system, far from Alliance control. Out here, people struggled to get by with the most basic technologies; a ship would bring you work, a gun would help you keep it. A captain's goal was simple: find a crew, find a job, keep flying.

Some memorable quotes to wet your appetites:
Jayne: You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you understand who's in ruttin' command here. Now we're finishing this deal, and then maybe maybe we'll come back for those morons who got themselves caught.
***

Mal: Kaylee, what the hell's going on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?
***

Jayne: Time for some thrilling heroics.
***

Mal: Can't get paid if you're dead.
Jayne: Can't get paid if you crawl away like a bitty little bug neither. I got a share of this job. Ten percent of nothin' is, let me do the math here... nothin' and a nothin', carry the nothin'...
***

Mal: You know, they tell ya to never hit a man with a closed fist but it is, on occasion, hilarious.
***

Simon: I've never shot anyone before.
Book: I was there, son. I'm fairly sure you haven't shot anyone yet.

Back in Black

I have decided to go back to my original template colour. I still like the green but ever since I learned how to add pictures I found it a tad busy, you know what I mean? Anyhoo, if any Gnomers dislike the black, drop me a comment and I'll see what I can do because as you already know, I'm all about the people.

"One Day in September"

I have just finished watching a documentary on the CBC titled "One Day in September" which retold the story of the events at the Munich Olympics in 1972. It was riveting and dramatic and very sad how the German authorities were ill-prepared and incompetent in their dealings with the terrorist group Black September. I came away with the feeling that had they been more trained in hostage negotiations and open to accepting help from the Isreali government and agencies such as Mossad there could have been survivors. Just my own opinion, though. Did anyone else happen to catch it? We can discuss.
F.Y.I. Apparently Spielberg is directing a new movie on the subject and I believe it deals with the massacre but it mostly follows the story of the Mossad agents who hunted down two of the terrorists. Sounds interesting, yes?
Steffo, looks like you'll have to attend another movie with me! Um, sorry it's not as fun as HP:GOF.

Guilty Pleasures

Ok, I'll admit it, I really like the movie Center Stage.
Stop laughing.
I can't help it, it's just one of those movies that make me feel better when I am home on a dateless Saturday night. I don't know what it is, it's not like I can really relate to the story as I've never dreamed of being a ballerina or anything but when I watch it I think to myself, "Hey, if the so-called plucky blonde ballerina can make it, so can I!" I know - it's weird but when I'm weary and when I'm feeling down it's like my bridge over troubled water.
***SINGLETONS UNITE!***
Share your guilty (and hopefully embarassing) pleasure so I don't feel like too much of a loser.

Word of the Day

Today's word of the day is vapid.

I AM SO SMART! I AM SO SMART...S-M-R-T!

Ooops. S-M-A-R-T.
Heh, that's my shout-out to the Simpsons. That show is good times. Good times.
Anyhoo, I recently found out how to add links so check 'em out if you have some extra time on your hands. What am I saying? Most of you are bloggers yourselves so of course you have time to spare. ZING!

Bulwer-Lytton Finalists

I found this in an old email my friend Sooz sent me and I thought I'd share it with you because it's amusing.

For those of you who do not know, Bulwer-Lytton wrote The Last Days of
Pompeii, which opens with the famous line "It was a dark and stormy night."
Hence the contest.

These are the 10 winners of this year's Bulwer-Lyttoncontest (run by the
English Dept of San Jose State University), wherein one writes only the
first line of a bad novel.

10) "As a scientist, Throckmorton knew that if he were ever to break wind in
the echo chamber, he would never hear the end of it."

9) "Just beyond the Narrows the river widens."

8) "With a curvaceous figure that Venus would have envied, a tanned,
unblemished oval face framed with lustrous thick brown hair, deep azure-blue
eyes fringed with long black lashes, perfect teeth that vied for
competition, and a small straight nose, Marilee had a beauty that defied
description."

7) "Andre, a simple peasant, had only one thing on his mind as he crept
along the East wall: 'Andre creep...Andre creep... Andre creep.'"

6) "Stanislaus Smedley, a man always on the cutting edge of narcissism, was
about to give his body and soul to a back alley sex-change surgeon to become
the woman he loved."

5) "Although Sarah had an abnormal fear of mice, it did not keep her from
eeking out a living at a local pet store."

4) "Stanley looked quite bored and somewhat detached, but then penguins
often do."

3) "Like an over-ripe beefsteak tomato rimmed with cottage cheese, the
corpulent remains of Santa Claus lay dead on the hotel floor."

2) "Mike Hardware was the kind of private eye who didn't know the meaning of
the word 'fear'; a man who could laugh in the face of danger and spit in the
eye of death -- in short, a moron with suicidal tendencies."

AND THE WINNER IS...

1) "The sun oozed over the horizon, shoved aside darkness, crept along the
greensward, and, with sickly fingers, pushed through the castle window,
revealing the pillaged princess, hand at throat, crown asunder, gaping in
frenzied horror at the sated, sodden amphibian lying beside her,
disbelieving the magnitude of the frog's deception, screaming madly, 'You
lied!!!'"

Go Wallabies!

Um, yeah, I'm a big rugby fan and, more importantly, a Springbok fan so I need the Wallabies to beat the All Blacks this weekend. A win for the Wallabies means the Tri-Nations belongs to the Boks for one more year. I have been saving a lot of good mojo for this so the outcome better be favourable.

I Love Pictures!

As you may have already noticed, I have discovered the art of posting pictures on my blog. I think I may have a problem because I can`t really seem to stop and now every damn blog must contain some sort of visual companion to make the experience more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Mmmm...Cheeeeese.

Highway to Hell

Ahem, having just returned from T.O. for a wedding I was left wondering why the hell anyone would choose to live there. Honestly, the traffic is always bad, they're horrible bad drivers and they smell. Ok, I didn't really sniff anyone so the last statement cannot be proven but I really just have to rant after spending 10 hours in the backseat of my parents truck with Willow the Greyhound who has bad breath. Thank Jeebus I took Gravol and passed out for a couple of hours each way. I love you Gravol. I think I love you more than Stef's home-made choco chip cookies. (Hint-hint, nudge-nudge)

Lyndy: Portrait of a Gnome

Ok, I am going away for the weekend and I know you'll all miss me terribly so I've decided to post the most current pic of myself because I haven't figured out how to add it on my profile page.
"Meow."

I'm Like Picasso

1. Eyal Podell

2. Matthew Settle

3. Eion Bailey

Much like Picasso went through his blue phase, I, Lyndy am going through my brunette phase. The above pictures are this week's Guy Candy contestants. Enjoy and remember, only you can prevent forest fires.

Headin' for a Weddin'.

Ah yes, that wonderful time of year when inevitably one of my cousins gets married. As some of you may or may not know, I have 21 first-cousins and we're all pretty close and everytime one of those bastards ties the knot I have to attend the "celebration" with a gift and a smile.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them but do they all have to be so glib about it? All they do is talk about happiness, true love, and soulmates. Blah, blah, blah. Shut you pie hole.
Now with one more hitched there are few of us singletons left in the Fitzpatrick-Costello clan, I mean, really, out of 21 there are now 5 left and one of those is a nun so she's kinda already married to Jeebus.
Anyhoo, not really looking forward to the trip there as it pretty much consists of sitting in a closed vehicle for six hours with my 'rents and their dogs. Needless to say, I have stocked up on the Gravol and sleeping pills to get me through it all.

Everett Got A Haircut.

Things are a little s l o w these days so I thought I'd share that info with you guys.

I so stoopid.

Huh, well as you may have noticed, I forgot to tell you what the survey was in the previous post. Anyhoo, I suppose I will go with "Who's Hottest This Week?" Go wild with it. Have fun and use a condom.

Guy Candy Weekly Survey

Ok, I've been drinking (Thanks Scoott!) and I have decided to implement a weekly survey undertaking the difficult task of comparing international hot men. It may be frivolous but hey, it's also fun. Some of them you may have heard about and others maybe not so think of this as an educational experience.

Here they are in order of picture appearance:
1. Hugh Dancy

2. Henry Cavill

3. Rodrigo Santoro

Brad and his chick songs.

It seems to me that Brad Charbonneau, who has worked with me for the past few years is, in fact, a teenage girl stuck in a twenty-year old boy's body. There is no one else I know out there that can sing "Wind Beneath My Wings" the way he does and let me tell you, it's magic. There is much more to tell but I will leave them for another time as people be all up in my business right now.

Harry Pottah

Hey'all.
As many of you will no doubt know, this past weekend saw the arrival HP's seventh book. There was a lot of hype about this book and it seems to me that as Harry gets older, so does his fan base. I mean, I read the book in its entirety on Saturday and found it a jolly good read but had my doubts about whether or not its supposed target audience would enjoy it. HP has always kind of been dark but it the last couple of books it seems to really have an edge about them and although I know a lot of kids might like it, I firmly believe that JKR has realized that there are also a lot of adult readers and decided to cater to them as well.
Anyhoo, it's a good book and if you get the chance I highly recommend taking a weekend afternoon and sitting in a cozy chair to escape into Harry's world.

The K-Factor

I just wanted to add on that I am doing the mailings from home and I forgot to add in the K-Factor in my timetable. The K-Factor, for those of you who may not know, refers to Kiwi, my cat. I swear to God, I have had to take envelopes away from her, take her out of the mailboxes and stop her from licking the envelopes shut. She is so naughty.

Burn in hell Ubifone, burn in hell.

Yo homeys.
It's been, like, a month since I last posted and for that I am truly sorry but you know how life and work gets in the way of blogging. Oh well.
Anyhoo, you may have noticed from the title of this blog that I am no fan of the Ubifone folks. Why, you ask yourselves? Well, Mike has a contract with them that we maill out their phone cards and pins and I am the one currently taking on the task. It's no easy feat, let me tell you, as there re over 20,000 (!!!) mailings to go out. Sweet Jeebus, I think I loathe Ubifone.
P.S. I think that, at the most, I have gotten through about 5,000 or less and there are more good times to come for me. I so hate my life and envelopes right now.

Tuesday, June 14, 2005

Dear Scott - I hate you.

Yeah, that's right.

You never return my calls, you never write so I am breaking up with you. As some singer once crooned "Love don't live here anymore!"

Call me.

Soozalicious!

What up everyone? I know it's been awhile since my last post but I can't help it - it's been too damn hot to write interesting and witty posts. I AM NOT A ROBOT - I tend to wither once the heat and humidity set it. ( I like to think of myself as a delicate flower, albeit an angry one).
Anyhoo, a couple interesting things have happened since I last gave your guys a shout out, one, my Kiwi had the operation, which took her from kitten to woman. Or something to that effect.
Also, I have had the opportunity to work with my high school friend at my old law firm and let me tell you it sucks... a lot. Heh, just kidding Sooz! I told you I would say something in my blog about you. Remember, I knew you before you were Suzanna! Hey, by the way, how was the funeral?
Ooh, ooh, ooh, I just remembered to tell people that I have discovered a new show on television and I find it quite entertaining for the long hot summer nights. It's crack-a-lackin'. Apparently others find it bitchin' too because Television Without Pity gives it the thumbs up and that's not always the easiest thing.
Oh yeah, it's called Veronica Mars and they are playing all the eps this summer on CTV on Thursdays and when the new season starts up it usually plays on UPN for those of you who are like me and have a satellite dish with US networks.

Stay cool. No, seriously, it's hot out there - you could get heat stroke or sumthin'.

My gal Friday

Thank Jeebus it's finally Friday! Honestly, I didn't think I was going to make it after a week of rolling out of bed WAY too late and consequently showing up to work fifteen minutes late, on average. Oops.
Anyhoo, I am going to try and make through the work day as best I can after falling asleep at six... this morning. Ugh. I am giddy right now as I am over-tired but you just wait until this afternoon when it fully hits me and I totally fall apart. I'm thinkin' full-blown breakdown and either Everett or Brad will have to get me some chocolate or I will begin hysterical sobbing for no reason whatsoever. Boys hate crying girls after all.

Peace out and word to your mothas.
